Dear K2C 2024 participants,
It is Race Week and we are so excited to be welcoming you in Kampersrus on Friday! These are the Final Race Instructions, so that you can prepare for the weekend ahead. It is a lot, we know, but please take the time to read it carefully so that you have a smooth weekend!
Please read the Race Programme for race start times and a detailed schedule of events to help you plan your weekend & activities accordingly.
We know that many of you are staying off site, but we have such an exciting line-up of things for runners & spectators to enjoy, so we really hope that you will spend the weekend around the race village soaking up the vibe, the fun and the spectacular setting!
Programme Highlights:
Friday 6pm – Colbec K9 Unit for a demonstration with their anti-poaching dogs.
Saturday 11:30am – Hoedspruit Reptile Centre live demonstration & photo booth.
Our family has spent time working with / visiting both of these groups. Their contributions to conservation in the area are massive and we are sure you will be fascinated to learn more about them!
Saturday 5pm – Springbok Rugby vs Ireland
Saturday 7pm – WildSide Dangerous Game Talk by Andrew – experiences in the bush, wild camping and dealing with potentially Dangerous Game.
Up / Downgrades
Any up / downgrades will be processed at the Race Office at Registration – please inform our team should you want to change your entered distance.
Runners who have booked a Single Day Entry will need to inform our team of their route selection at Registration.
GPX Routes
The courses are fully marked and marshalled, but the GPX routes are available for download on the Routes page on the website.
SARZA (Search and Rescue) are located at points along each route and will check you through to monitor progress on the course each day – please keep your race number easily visible (shirt front is preferred).
Aid Stations
There are aid stations on each of the courses each day, with a new one added on Day 1 at the top of the Mariepskop Saddle, hosted by MCSA! Our aid stations will be stocked with a variety of potatoes, boiled eggs, sweets, chips, biscuits, PURA Hydration, coke and water.
Please bring your own specialist nutrition and hydration.
Compulsory Equipment
We put a large number of safety precautions in place and ask that you take responsibility to carry these items listed HERE. If things go wrong out on the trail for yourself or a fellow runner, these items can make a big difference. Until our Safety Crew and get to you.
Run Collective will be on site with their pop-up shop, as well as Reegs & Ronnie and Funky Pants.
Remember that our courses are cupless, so be sure to carry your own cup / bottle to resupply at aid stations!
Physio & Massage
AM Spa will be providing rub-downs at the venue on Day 1 – huge thanks to them for providing that service!
If you are in need of a more specific treatment, be sure to book a physio session with Lauren Porter (available on Saturday from 10:30am til about 4pm), to get your legs recovered & ready for Day 2! Book in advance to secure a session on 081 271 9044 (whatsapp preferred).
